E-invoicing in France: what changes in 2026 and 2027

If you run a business in France, e-invoicing is no longer a distant IT project. The reform phases obligations in, and the first hard date is already close enough to plan for.

The short timeline

From 1 September 2026, every company must be able to receive electronic invoices. Large and mid-size companies also start issuing on that date.

From 1 September 2027, small and micro companies must issue electronic invoices as well.

Always confirm the exact perimeter with your accountant. The law and guidance can still nuance who sits inside which wave.

Not just a PDF by email

French e-invoicing is structured data, not a scanned PDF in your inbox. Inside the French perimeter you typically work with formats such as French UBL, CII or Factur-X (a PDF with the XML embedded).

Peppol is part of how many platforms exchange those documents, with French-specific rules on top of plain Peppol BIS.

PepCerto supports France

PepCerto supports French e-invoicing so you can send and receive without building a custom stack. Keep it simple: create invoices in PepCerto, stay reachable for suppliers, and move early instead of waiting for September.

Ready when France is? Start with PepCerto and sort the rest with your accountant if you need a second opinion on your size category.
